Wanda the Wonderful is a feature length documentary film about the adventurous and tragic life of my Grandmother, Mattie O'Wanda Hardwick, a wild-west sharpshooter. Wanda bore seven children by four different men, performed as a stunt woman and actress in Hollywood, traveled the world as “Wanda Savage” with her shooting act, was the temporary Madame of a brothel, met and married a sheep rancher named Carl Hampton and then "high-tailed it out of town 'til the heat died down" after she shot this same man, my Grandfather, in the shoulder.

Toting guns and wearing pants when skirts were the norm, Wanda opted for career and independence over motherhood. Committing the ultimate sin for a woman, she left her children behind to pursue her shooting career. Her tale is important to tell because it reveals the pain and sacrifice behind the success and wonder of this true Wild West woman. Her story offers an unseen side of American Western history, someone who put herself at the bleeding edge of the new independence and struggled to forge her own identity.

"Gerogina's Reckoning" - Narrative: Super-16mm, Feature length Drama, in development.

Georgina's Reckoning" is a story about a woman who fights back and what happens when she does. Living on the outskirts of a small Texas town, Clive and Georgina are two misfits who are deeply addicted to each other. Georgina is haunted by a trauma that is slowly eating away at her, causing her to recede into herself. Clive is unaware of Georgina's dark secret but feels her increasing distance. His anguish lurks just below the surface and escapes periodically in volatile and destructive outbursts. A corrupt businessman named Bud resurfaces in the town after a lengthy and mysterious absence. One night while Clive is away, he tries to force his way into Georgina's house. Unwilling to be his victim a second time, Georgina shoots and kills him in self-defense. Small towns have their own ways of doing justice and sometimes a person "just needs to be killed". But will this understanding be the case for Georgina - will she be allowed to fight back or not?

"Ranchers And The Environment" - Documentary: 16mm and Mini DV, in progress.

This film looks at the life and business of my ranching relatives on their sheep and cattle outfit in Wyoming. Very sadly this is a livelihood that is threatened with extinction. Lands are grazed by sheep and cattle (and elk, antelope, deer, etc.) where there used to be Buffalo. Republican agribusiness and liberal environmentalists are combining to destroy ranchers, the environment and this mythic American way of life.
